What is Poultry Litter?
Litter = Rice husk+ spilled water & feed + organic matter from the birds.
Litter contains millions of Anaerobic & Micro-aerophilic bacteria that produce Ammonia (NH3).
What is the effect of Ammonia?
Presence of very high levels of ammonia in the deep litter house result into a variety of problems like
- Conjunctivitis- leading to swollen head syndrome.
- Lung congestion- causing anorexic condition.
- Impaired kidney functions leading to problems like Nephritis & Urolithiasis.
How is Ammonia Generated ?
Uric acid is the form in which birds excrete the NH3 produced in protein metabolism.
Nitrates increase Nitrogen content of the litter enriching its fertilize value.
The Solution
Ammoblast, an ammonia degrading powder is specially developed to knock down ammonia generated in poultry litter.Ammoblast is a dry, free flowing powder prepared from a group of ammonia oxidizing microorganisms which utilize ammonia as their main nutrient for growth. The secrete a mixture of ammonia oxidizing enzymes which sequentially oxidize ammonia to hydroxylamine and then to nitrite. Nitrite is further degraded by other microorganisms present in the litter to nitrates.
Application
Normally harmful effects of ammonia are noticed after 3 weeks of age, hence application of AMMOBLAST is recommended From 21 days onwards on weekly basis.
Broiler/Breeder in deep litter :
Apply 1 kg of AMMOBLAST powder over 1000sq.ft. shed area in the litter for conventional shed. Apply 2 kg of AMMOBLAST over 1000sq.ft. shed area in the environmentally controlled shed.
Cage Layers/ Breeders
Apply 3 kg of AMMOBLAST powder over 5000sq.ft. shed area on manure.
