Bactomos is a novel prebiotic aqua feed supplement. It prevents the invasion of gut mucosa by pathogenic microorganisms. Bactomos os a matira;;u derived extract pf p;ogpsaccjarodes frp, ce;; wa;; pf ueast, Saccvjarp,uces cerevisiae. Oligosaccharides from Bactomos adhere to lectins (which are specific bacterial proteins) of intestinal pathogens including Vibrio, Salmonella and E. coli.
Bacteria with blocked lectins connot adhere to the intestinal wall to establish the colonization. Furthermore,enteropathogenic organisms can not break down and utilize Bactomos as a source of nutrient. Bactomos can not be attacked by bacterial species in the normal flora of the shrimp intestine.
